Well Water Testing
Do you have a well or spring? What’s in your water?
The Virginia Household Water Quality Program aims to improve the water quality and health of
Virginians with wells, springs and cisterns. We provide affordable water testing, help interpreting water test results, and information about addressing problems.
How does it work?
Participants attend a short Kickoff Meeting, where they receive information about how to collect water samples and a sampling kit. Participants will collect samples on a designated day and time, and drop off at the sample collection point. Water is analyzed on the Virginia Tech campus for 14 parameters. Once analysis is complete, results are returned at a final meeting, where water test results are explained, along with information about how to deal with any problems. If you are unable to attend the interpretation meeting, results will be mailed to you.
Special reduced cost through sponsorship:
HRSD (Hampton Roads Sanitation District) is providing sponsorship for this clinic, reducing the cost from $65 per sample to $20 per sample. At the Clinic, participants will have an opportunity to learn about a new initiative, the Sustainable Water Initiative for Tomorrow (SWIFT). This innovative water purification initiative in eastern Virginia is designed to ensure a sustainable source of groundwater while addressing environmental challenges such as Chesapeake Bay restoration, sea level rise and saltwater intrusion.
Cost: $20 per sample kit. Checks and cash accepted.
Make checks payable to VCE – Chesapeake (return check fee $50.00).
